40 Something Anniversary, Jennifer Kelly, 3/13/16

Well we certainly know how to celebrate! It was a lovely evening of greeting old friends, music, dancing and good thongs to eat and drink.  Our super organizer Julee handled the catering side superbly, with the aid of a willing crew of kitchen helpers.  The squad to transform the hall were early on site and worked wonders within an hour to give a festive appearance to the venue. Michael Bentley had his sound  system set up and tested in record time so we were all able to enjoy the lovely selection of harp and violin music Susan and Calli had worked on for our enjoyment. Despite the weather, flu season and assorted problems from surgery to burglary, a number of alumni were able to make it for the reception, some from distant venues (putting to shame the local sloths and amnesiacs!) The entertainment went very well and quite a few people expressed the desire to dance the Forty Something Reel, based on how flowing and easy you made it look. (Take note monthly dance program setters) Jack’s Dance was lovely to watch - Bradley was thrilled and very appreciative - and having such a large group dance Fiona’s Birthday with the interesting choreography that made possible gave it a whole new look.  Compliments to Kamrin and the Highland dancers.  If anyone has that on video I would love to be able to send it to Fiona. Cutting the delicious chocolate cake was a breeze in comparaison with tackling our wedding cake, frosted in rock hard Royal icing, with a blunt sword! With many hands to help the clean up seemed to go quite quickly. So many people worked to make that event possible I cannot thank them all, but I hope the enjpoyment of the occasion was its own reward. Jennifer
