Jennifer & John Kelly, Recipients of the RSCDS Scroll of Honour, 11/15/15

Announcement at the Asilomar Scottish Weekend Ball

The highest accolade of the RSCDS is the award of the Society’s Scroll of Honour.

This special recognition is given for exceptional contribution and services to the advancement of Scottish Country Dance.

This year's award was presented to Jennifer and John Kelly.

Jennifer and John's many contributions to the San Francisco Branch started soon after they moved to the California Northern Bay Area in 1966. With the formation of The Red Thistle Dancers in 1973, their unceasing effort and support of the San Francisco Branch through promotion and encouragement of the advancement of Scottish Dance and culture, continues to delight and inspire.

Whether dancing themselves, teaching, devising dances, producing special events, and acting in many other capacities, their love of the dance and enthusiasm for the art impresses everyone who meets them.

The Red Thistle Dancers past and present add their warmest congratulations to Jennifer and John Kelly for this well deserved honour. May they continue serving the Scottish Country Dancing community and the San Francisco Branch for many years to come.

At this same dancing weekend, members of the Red Thistle Dancers performed Jennifer Kelly's "C. Stewart Smith" and "150 Plus 50" in honor of the San Francisco Branch's 50th Anniversary, and the Caledonian Club's 150th Anniversary.

C. Stewart Smith was a much loved Highland and Scottish Country Dance teacher & dancer whose contribution to the San Francisco Branch started long before the San Francisco Branch was formed.
