Dear Red Thistle:
A small number of the group performed today at the inaugural Carnival of Cultures event in Sunnyvale.
Congratulations to all the dancers:
Highland Dancer – Bridget
Country Dancers – Julee, Lisa, Lin, Denise, Deborah, Bradley, Geoffrey, Fred
The country dancing was well done, considering the stage was small in size and had some “discontinuities” and gaps in it. But the stage was relatively stable so that wasn’t a worry. The Vanessa medley felt really strong from my point of view in the set!!! The dancers communicated well and danced well as a team. We gathered quite a crowd during the performance and for audience participation which was very ably led by Lin.
Well done to Bridget for giving a strong Highland dance performance!
Congratulations and many thanks to the musicians: Susan and Lyle. They performed amazingly well despite the tight quarters on the stage and the gusty wind moving the sheet music around during the performance. As always, their talents add so much to the Red Thistle performance.

We made a very positive connection with the organizers of the Carnival of Culture. I think it very likely we will be asked to participate in the event in the future.
